An 18-year-old man, Emmanuel Ajayi, was on Monday remanded in jail by a Chief Magistrates court docket in Ibandan for alleged try to kill his neighbour.
The Information Company of Nigeria (NAN) stories that the defendant, of Oloke Olunde space, Ibadan was in court docket on one-count cost of trying to kill his neighbour.
The Police Prosecutor, Insp. Samad Aliu, had advised the court docket that Ajayi was alleged to have armed himself with a kitchen knife and tried to kill his neighbour, Abigael Ologundudu, 46.
Aliu stated, “Ajayi was alleged to have entered Ologundudu’s home by way of the fence, tried to slice her throat when he attacked her.”
In response to him, the defendant dedicated the offence on Nov. 22, at Oloke Atagba, Boluwaji, Ibadan.
The offence, he stated contravened part 320 of the Prison Code Cap 38, Vol II, and Legal guidelines of Oyo state 2000. Part 320 stipulates life imprisonment if discovered responsible of the offence.
The plea of the defendant was not taken by the court docket.
In her ruling, the Chief Justice of the Peace, Mrs Kehinde Omotosho, stated the court docket lacked the jurisdiction to attempt the case.
Omotosho, nevertheless, remanded the defendant in Agodi jail pending the result of the case file on the Oyo state Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).
